Jan Tratnik had a strong start to the year with Visma-Lease a Bike
Jan Tratnik is set to move from Visma-Lease a Bike to Bora-Hansgrohe at the start of 2025.
The Slovenian, who moved to the Dutch team at the start of 2023 has become one of the most valuable domestiques in the men’s WorldTour peloton and enjoyed a breakthrough spring in which he won Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and finished third in the Volta ao Algarve. Injury and illness wrecked the rest of his cobbled Classics campaign but he is scheduled to race both the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France later this summer.
Visma-Lease a Bike had been in talks to extend the rider’s current deal but GCN understands from reliable sources that the move to Bora-Hansgrohe will take place with the 34-year-old set to link up with his former teammate and fellow Slovenian Primož Roglič.

The German team have been linked to several riders in the last few months following the investment from Red Bull – who now owns a 51 per cent stake in the team.
As GCN wrote earlier in April, Laurence Pithie is set to join the team having agreed terms on a multi-year contract from Groupama-FDJ. The New Zealander had a stunning breakthrough campaign in the Spring Classics, and at just 21, is seen as a major star for the future.
Jai Hindley is also set to sign a new contract with the team that would tie him to the squad for the next few years. The former Giro d’Italia winner is set to race the Tour de France this summer in support of Roglič.
No rider transfers can be officially announced until August 1 and the UCI restrictions are lifted.
