Tech brand Wahoo has unveiled a big update for its two signature ELEMNT cycling computers with the new ‘Ready to Ride’ update. The software update introduces significant changes to the user interface and user experience of both the ROAM V2 and BOLT V2 computers.

The changes are centred around the start page. Currently, the opening page on the Wahoo ELEMNT is the main workout page with all the information set to zero until movement is detected, the rider presses start or you press the side button that brings you to a settings page.

The update will instead bring you to a page with all the information you could need and a sleeker interface with all of those features you would have to search for, right off the bat.

“Ready to Ride is a new menu screen on ELEMNT bike computers that provides users with fast, intuitive access to all of the frequently needed pre-ride functions including the sensor menu, route loading and battery status,” Wahoo described in its press release.

“Ready to Ride was inspired and developed by user feedback and builds on Wahoo’s mission to provide their athletes with easier access to features they value and love. At its core, is a revised menu which will be optionally shown to the user when the computer starts. The revised user interface makes it easy to load a route or planned workout and check that the correct sensors are paired. You can also effortlessly view other key data such as GPS signal status, WiFi status, phone connection, and time of day.”

Additionally, with electronic shifting growing in popularity across all different price points of new bikes, the new update makes it near-impossible to fall victim to an empty shifting battery.

“As part of the Ready to Ride feature, the battery status for electronic shifting systems (Shimano Di2, SRAM eTAP) is now a data field which can be shown on any workout screen so you can keep an eye on your battery charge throughout your ride,” read the press release. “Post ride, you’ll also receive a handy alert on your ride summary screen if the ELEMNT or any paired sensor needs to be charged.”

The update follows the summer changes that saw the inclusion of the 'Summit' feature and the integration with Trailforks to allow for off-road routing. Updates will be available to anyone with an up-to-date Wahoo ELEMNT computer, while only the version 2 edition of the ROAM and BOLT will get the full functionality of the new update.
